Indigenous Protected Areas - project managers' toolkit
Project managers' toolkit
We've developed this project managers' toolkit to help Indigenous Protected Area owners, custodians and managers to produce management plans that provide outcomes to Indigenous peoples and the Australian nation. We've put together these resources to make it easier for people to find the information they need on developing management plans.

Monitoring and evaluation
Monitoring and evaluation of protected areas are becoming increasingly important in Australia and internationally to measure and communicate 'management effectiveness' - how effective Indigenous Protected Areas are in protecting the natural and cultural values they aim to protect.
CyberTracker
Indigenous Protected Areas and Working on Country are promoting the use of a mobile data collection software, known as CyberTracker, to help Indigenous rangers monitor their country. CyberTracker allows people to record data from the field using a handheld device. The information is then downloaded to a database management system where analysis and mapping of data can be completed. Examples of data recorded includes the types of animals or plants encountered during a survey or details on weeds and other pests. CyberTracker is uniquely appropriate for Indigenous use where there may be language barriers or harsh field conditions.
