Trainers
BEST Employment Ltd delivers training through a partnership between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and trainers are experienced in delivering training to Indigenous people.
Qualifications
The team's relevant qualification and experience:
- Darrell Priest: Diploma Conservation and Land Management, Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Teaching Diploma.
Experience with Indigenous groups includes:
- Horticulture TAFE teacher (delivery of training to Indigenous CDEP participants Tingha, Ashford Land Council, Youth at Risk and Aboriginal Youth Careers)
- Greening Australia Supervisor of Indigenous groups at Moree, Boggabilla and Inverell
- Teacher at Katherine, NT
- Sue Hudson: Certificate III Mentoring Indigenous people, Dei Aboriginal family and Community Counselling, Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Bachelor of Arts with Honours (Major Archaeology)
Training and consulting experience includes:- Border Rivers CMA Board Member
- Owner/Operator of Aboriginal Regional Training and Education Facts (ARTEFacts) for 20 years delivering training and consultancy services for cultural heritage management
- Trainer Booroongen Diugun College
- TAFE teacher delivering Australian Land Conservation and Restoration traineeships and Cert II Aboriginal Site Officer training.
Training experience
BEST (and its predecessor Inverell Skill Training Inc.) has in excess of 20 years experience delivering training and services to Indigenous people. Some of the training that BEST has delivered to Indigenous people is our Indigenous Job Search Training course and Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management. We are a current member of the Indigenous Employment Panel. In addition to this, we have worked closely with training providers to coordinate training that improves the employment prospects of our clients.
Our two identified trainers have over 40 years combined experience delivering training and consultancy services to Indigenous people. Sue Hudson operates her own consultancy service aimed at educating the community on cultural heritage management. She has over 20 years experience providing training and archaeological field work. In addition Sue has a wide range of experience delivering Indigenous programs, training and mentoring services. She is also frequently invited to deliver speeches and papers at conferences around Australia and has worked at culturally significant sites in the New England area. Darrell Priest has extensive natural resource management experience including 33 years experience in property resource management and 25 years experience in training.
Recent experience
BEST Employment Ltd has not delivered cultural heritage management training to an Indigenous group within the last 12 months (valid at October 2011).
