Training experience
Look Now Training and Employment is an Indigenous focused training organisation. It has been delivering training to Indigenous people since 2009, and has trained Indigenous people in Certificate II, III and IV in Conservation and Land Management (CALM). So far these groups have come from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Ipswich areas in Queensland.
Currently the cultural heritage management training is delivered as part of the Conservation and Land Management (CALM) training. The cultural units are delivered with local Traditional Custodians. The other units in the CALM packages are delivered in a culturally appropriate way e.g. 'Recognise plants' is taught by identifying local plants and their bush tucker / medicine uses. The delivery of CALM is centred around a revegetation project, and this is often an area of cultural heritage significance, so that the project gives back to community.
The trainers also offer non-accredited cultural heritage management training, which is adapted according to client needs.
Recent experience
Look Now Training and Employment has delivered cultural heritage management training to an Indigenous group within the last 12 months (valid at December 2011).
