About the application
The Department of the Environment has received an application for a permit under Part 13, section 237 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The application is to undertake scientific research on the efficacy and safety of satellite tagging and attachment procedures for common dolphin in state and Commonwealth waters off South Australia. Research activities include capture and handling, tag attachment, monitoring of body condition, heart and respiration rate and collection of blood samples. Research will be undertaken by Dr Guido Parra from the School of Biological Sciences, Flinders University.
In accordance with the provisions of section 237(3b) of the EPBC Act, you are invited to comment on this proposal before COB 12 November 2013.
