Federal Environment Minister Robert Hill has unveiled a new publication by Environment Australia titled "Work in Progress - Australia's Commitment to the Environment."

The publication details the wide range of work currently being undertaken by Australians to restore and protect our natural environment.

These efforts have been largely backed by the Commonwealth's Natural Heritage Trust - jointly administered by Environment Australia and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

The Trust has enabled the Commonwealth to deliver record amounts of funding for environmental repair efforts and has already funded almost 11,800 projects across Australia.

Around 400,000 Australians have participated in this national effort. The new publication pays tribute to their success stories which include:

Environment Australia has also engaged Australian industry and all levels of government in the challenge of achieving sustainable management of our natural resource base. The publication is testament to the work and commitment of the individual employees who make up Environment Australia and its associated agencies.
