Hunt uses roadmap to call for an end to ocean outfalls

Greg Hunt MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage has used the launch of a roadmap for the Australian water industry to highlight Sydney's water situation as the worst polluter in Australia.

"The Australian Water Industry Roadmap is about finding innovative solutions to our water problems and increasing private sector involvement in this process," Mr Hunt said.

Mr Hunt made three major points at today's launch of the roadmap:

"The Sydney situation is indicative of what this roadmap is about - removing the roadblocks to reform.

"It's a long-term agenda between government and industry on how we use and reuse this precious resource of water."

The Australian Water Industry Roadmap was developed by the ACTEW Corporation on behalf of the Barton Group with a $190,000 grant from AusIndustry's Innovation Access Program.
