Science comes alive at the Bureau during Science Week 2009

Environment Minister Peter Garrett is encouraging Australians to get involved with the Bureau of Meteorology during National Science Week 2009.
“Science Week is an excellent opportunity for the community to learn more about the great work that the Bureau does not just in weather forecasting but across a whole range of climate related areas,” Mr Garrett said.
“The Bureau of Meteorology has been involved with National Science Week since 2006, with events at remote field stations, regional offices and capital cities around the country.”
“Each year during Science Week, the Bureau invites the public to find out how they observe and forecast the weather, with open days, tours, public talks and school visits. I encourage all Australians with an interest in weather and climate to take advantage of the wide range of activities planned.”
The celebrations run between Saturday 15 August and Sunday 23 August.
