2008 Graduate Program
After completing the graduate program in 2008, I stayed on in my final rotation, the Marine Protected Areas Transition and Tropical Operations section. My main role was to undertake a research project for the north team to develop a more strategic approach for future research and monitoring plans and management at Ashmore Reef National Nature Reserve. I also went on the become the Science Manager for the Departments MPA program. This position gave me the opportunity to put my scientific background into practice and contribute to the management of Australia's marine resources. The position also gave me opportunities to travel and participate in fieldwork all around Australia, including places like Lord Howe Island and Ashmore Reef.
At the end of 2010 I then moved into the Environment Assessment Branch where I continue to work in the NSW Section. In this role I implement the EPBC Act to undertake environmental impact assessments to mitigate risk to matters of national environmental significance.
