About the submission
In November, 2007, the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries provided a submission for further assessment of the Queensland East Coast Otter Trawl Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The submission comprised of the - Annual Status Report - Queensland East Coast Trawl Fishery 2004, Annual Status Report - Queensland East Coast Trawl Fishery October 2006 and Interim Report for Ecological Assessment - East Coast Otter Trawl Fishery 2007, reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the then Department of the Environment and Heritage (now the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) in November, 2004.
The 2007 DEWHA assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
