About the assessment report

In June 2007, the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries provided a submission for further assessment of the Gulf of Carpentaria Inshore Fin Fish Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

The submission, comprised of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Queensland Gulf of Carpentaria Inshore Fin Fish Fishery Annual Status Reports, reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the Department of Environment and Water Resources (DEW) in November 2004.

The 2007 DEW assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
