Molong Museum Building: significance of site
The Molong Museum was one of the first buildings built in Molong in 1856 by James Mortal, a rubble mason. Over the years the building has had a colourful life, from hotel (the Golden Fleece) to doctor's residence and surgery to flats.
It was purchased by the Molong Historical Society in 1969 with the assistance of the local council. Today the building is listed by the National Trust as a building of significance. The building also houses a major collection of Old Fairbridge memorabilia.
