Rabbi's residence renewal: outcomes

Benefits of project

The project will create short term employment and restore the 100 year old building for many years to come.

The Rabbi's Residence is the headquarters of the Broken Hill Historical Society (formed in 1965), which is an active voluntary group involved in maintaining historic records and providing historical information to the general public. The building is central to the Society's activities, and provides meeting rooms as well as show casing the synagogue itself.

At present the full building is unsafe and not accessible to the public. The works will allow increased community use, as the full building will be opened to the public and will allow for individual and tour groups to visit.

The Broken Hill Historical Society will be able to continue to organise historical research and collect and preserve items of historical value to Broken Hill and the surrounding district.
