Country Water Community Water Efficiency Rebate and Replacement Programme
Country Energy – offer was declined by Country Energy
About the project
The project has four aims:
- Implement a school and community group water efficiency programme focussing on dual flush toilets and water efficient tap replacement.
- Implement a community wide rebate programme to reduce future demands on the Broken Hill Water Supply.
- Undertake an education programme with primary schools, day-care centres and household audits on how to reduce water usage and benefits of water saving devices.
- Analyse and report on the projected water savings through collaboration with the University of Technology, Sydney.
The project will promote the use of water efficient products throughout the communities in which Country Water operates through direct funding, audits, rebates, public events, media and education. The water savings will amount to 250,273 kL per year and will provide ongoing promotion of water being a finite resource which needs to be used wisely.
The Strengthening Basin Communities program is funded by the Australian Government's Water for the Future initiative.
