COAG Strategy on Water and Wastewater Services in Remote (including Indigenous) Communities - Western Australia

Total funding: Up to $11 million provided by the Australian Government under the National Water Security Plan for Cities and Towns (NWSPCT) with any additional funding provided by the Western Australian Government.

About the project

The first phase of this project is to undertake feasibility studies for the cost effective and sustainable provision of water and wastewater services in at least two remote Indigenous communities including Ardyaloon and Warmun (the Communities). The feasibility studies will receive Australian Government funding of up to $1 million.

The Commonwealth may provide a further financial contribution of up to $10 million, in addition to any remaining funds from the initial $1 million allocation, towards the construction of water and wastewater services in the Communities subject to the outcomes and recommendations of the Feasibility Study and agreement to proceed to construction.


The Feasibility Study for Warmun was completed in October 2011.

The Feasibility Study for Ardyaloon is scheduled to be completed by March 2012.
