About the project

Project location: Brisbane, Queensland

Funding recipient: Brisbane City Council

Total Australian Government funding: $5,391,000 (GST exclusive)

Water savings: up to 185 ML/yr

The project will construct water storage basins and both above and underground tanks to supply and treat stormwater to a portfolio of sport and recreational parks and former land fill locations. This treated stormwater will be used to replace potable water used for irrigation.

Project benefits/objectives:

  • reduce the demand for potable water by up to 200 ML/yr, and
  • foster habitat creation within the project locations, and
  • increase the amenity of open spaces within Brisbane City area.
