The project involves the construction of three stormwater harvesting schemes within the City of Hobsons Bay that will supply an estimated 184 megalitres per year (ML/yr) to irrigate sports grounds in the suburbs of Altona Meadows, Altona North and Williamstown. The three schemes are located at Laverton Recreation Reserve in Altona Meadows, Paisley Park in Altona and Cyril Curtain Reserve in Williamstown.
- Improving the security of water supplies in Australia, without adding to greenhouse emissions.
- Reducing demand on potable water supplies.
- Helping to reduce the impact of urban runoff on water quality in receiving waters.
The whole project is due to be completed by June 2013.
