Project location: Hurstville, Sydney, New South Wales

Funding recipient: Hurstville City Council

Total Australian Government funding: $1,071,738 (GST exclusive)

Water savings: up to 51 ML/yr

This project will harvest stormwater from a 160ha catchment north of the council owned Hurstville golf course. The catchment includes the Penshurst Light Industrial Estate and storm flows will be captured, treated and stored in an onsite bioretention and pond system and used to irrigate tees, greens and fairways.

Project benefits/objectives:

  • reduce the demand for potable water by up to 51 ML/yr
  • provide water security for council owned golf course
  • promote water conservation, stormwater reuse and environmental conservation to users of the golf course, and
  • help conserve the integrity of nearby endangered ecological vegetation communities.
