Total Australian Government funding: $7,115,000 (GST exclusive)

Water savings: up to 172 ML/yr

The project will harvest stormwater from flood mitigation basins within Murray Bridge and transfer it to a new subdivision at Gifford Hill for treatment and storage in a constructed wetland. The treated stormwater will then be distributed to various locations within Murray Bridge to irrigate parks and sports fields.

Project benefits/objectives:

  • decrease reliance on the River Murray and reduce potable water demand by 172 ML/y
  • generate a net benefit to water quality in the River Murray near Murray Bridge by reducing pollutant loads discharged into the river, and
  • irrigation to parks and sports fields within Murray Bridge to maintain and improve amenties.
