Statewide Wastewater System Upgrades
Regional South Australia
Australian Government Funding: $17,699,936
About the project
Commonwealth funding has assisted local councils with the capital costs of upgrading 59 community wastewater management systems in South Australia. It is anticipated that up to 8,843 ML per annum of recycled water will be made available as a result of the project.
The project has:
- addressed groundwater and surface water contamination and other environmental impacts of ageing community wastewater management systems
- supplemented existing water supplies through increased recycling of treated wastewater
- improved the environmental, operational and financial sustainability of community wastewater management systems.
All the wastewater system upgrades are complete except Robe.
The final report for the project (excluding Robe) is available now.
