Tasmanian Irrigation water use automatic data collection and management project
Australian Government Funding: $5,750,672
About the project
The project has developed a system to remotely collect and manage water use data for major irrigation schemes through the installation of telemetry units (using radio and mobile phone systems) on irrigation water meters. The water use data from the on-farm meters is stored on a central web based database and irrigation schemes, irrigators and catchment managers are able to access daily water use and allocation volumes online.
The project provides water users and managers with reliable irrigation water use data for water management and planning purposes. Irrigators also have real time access to accurate water use data which will result in more water efficient production.
The project is now complete. Further information can be found on the Tasmanian Water Use Management Project website
