About the project:

Project location: Pooraka, South Australia

Funding recipients: City of Salisbury

Total Australian Government funding: $6,990,000 (GST exclusive)

Water savings: up to 400 ML/yr

This project features the application of small footprint treatment technology (bio-filtration) suitable for urban areas across Australia which do not have the space for major treated areas.

Project benefits/objectives:

  • Construct stormwater harvesting and reuse infrastructure that has the capacity to reduce potable water demands by up to 400 megalitres per year (ML/yr) by replacing mains water supply with treated stormwater in fit-for-purpose uses such as irrigation of parks and gardens.
  • Promote the sustainable use of alternative water supplies in the Adelaide urban environment.

Project progress:

The project is due for completion by October 2013.
