About the application
The current export approval for Tycraft Pty Ltd is valid until 31 July 2013 and Tycraft Pty Ltd's operation is now due for assessment for ongoing export accreditation. The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities received an application from Tycraft Pty Ltd in June 2013. The application has been prepared to address the Australian Government 'Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition' and to provide updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the previous Australian Government assessment. The application will be used to assess the operation for the purposes of Part 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
Consideration will be given to:
- declaring the harvest of Tridacna maxima and Tridacna derasa by Tycraft Pty Ltd in the waters of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands as an approved wildlife trade operation under section 303FN of the EPBC Act
