Department of the Environment - continued staff engagement

Following an All Staff meeting in Canberra yesterday, senior officers from the Department of the Environment continued to engage staff today to discuss the proposed organisational restructure and the new voluntary redundancy round.

Secretary of the Department, Dr Gordon de Brouwer, visited Hobart to meet with staff from the Australian Antarctic Division and Parks Australia, and Deputy Secretary, Kimberley Dripps, spoke with staff in Darwin from the Supervising Scientist Division and Parks Australia. Departmental staff in Brisbane and Perth participated in discussions by videoconference.

Changes to the Department’s structure are part of a response to an internal Strategic Review of the Department’s structural, governance and organisational arrangements. Opportunities for consultation will continue and the Department is committed to meet its budget in ways that respect staff as well as engaging them in the process.
