About the application
The Department of the Environment has received an application for a permit under Part 13, section 237 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The application is to undertake scientific research on a number of cetacean species within waters adjacent to Eden in NSW. Research activities include photographing whales for the purposes of identification that involves close approaches in a research vessel. Research will be undertaken by Mr Greg Kaufman and Dr Emmanuelle Martinez from the Pacific Whale Foundation.
In accordance with the provisions of section 237(3b) of the EPBC Act, you are invited to comment on this proposal before COB 27 May 2014.
