Groundwater Purchase Tender in the Central Condamine Alluvium - Round 3
On 15 July 2014 the Australian Government announced a new tender for groundwater purchasing in the Murray-Darling Basin’s Central Condamine Alluvium, with a budget of up to $10 million.
The tender will open at 9:00am AEST on Monday 21 July 2014 and will close at 5.00 pm AEST on Thursday 14 August 2014.
The tender aims to purchase groundwater in the Queensland Central Condamine Alluvium to bridge the gap to the sustainable diversion limits defined in the Basin Plan. This will enable progress to be made towards the long term protection of the productive base of this groundwater resource.
In this tender, the Australian Government is only seeking sell offers for water licences held in the Central Condamine Alluvium Groundwater Management Area. At this time sell offers in the Upper Condamine Alluvium Tributaries will not be accepted.
The Australian Government has allocated up to $10 million for the tender.
Who can apply?
Groundwater licences located in all four sub-areas of the Central Condamine Alluvium will be eligible for purchase in this tender.
Licence holders who submitted a sell offer in previous groundwater tenders must submit a new offer to be eligible for this tender.
How will my application be evaluated?
Eligible applications will be evaluated by the Department on the basis of value for money after the close of the tender on 14 August 2014. Applicants must include the price that they are seeking for their water in the application.
Applications pursued by the Department will be subject to due diligence checks before a water sale contract will be issued.
