Camping
There are lots of camping areas around Kakadu National Park with various levels of facilities. Please note that:
- There is no booking system for campsites. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
- Camping outside of designated camping areas requires a permit.
Managed campgrounds - $10 per person per night
Facilities at managed campgrounds include hot and cold showers and flushing toilets. They may also have picnic tables, designated fire/barbecue facilities and day use areas. Some managed camping areas are divided into 'generator' and 'non-generator' zones.
Please pay camping fees to campground managers or deposit in collection boxes.
Bush campgrounds - $5 per person per night
Facilities at bush campgrounds are limited with composting toilets only. Drinking water is not available at these campsites so please bring your own.

Free bush camping areas
There are also several free camping areas in the park, which have limited or no facilities. Drinking water is not available at these campsites, so please bring your own.
They are often in remote areas and have restricted seasonal access. Plan ahead before staying there and take all your rubbish out with you.
Commercial campgrounds
Several commercial campgrounds are located throughout Kakadu National Park. Prices and facilities vary. Please contact businesses directly for information and bookings. The Kakadu National Park visitor guide has phone numbers listed for accommodation and services in each region.

Do your part to conserve Kakadu National Park and please remember
- Be considerate of other park users
- Keep all equipment within the confines of your campsite and away from vegetation
- Set up tents at least 50m from water's edge when camping near water bodies
- If possible, please use gas appliances rather than fires for cooking
- Only light fires in the fireplaces provided
- Only collect dead and fallen wood from road sides
- Do not feed the wildlife
- Please do not disturb the trees in the area, particularly young and small trees which will provide shade in the future
- Take your rubbish with you when you leave and dispose of appropriately
- Obey safety signs in the park.
