Questions | Extra information

The Australian Government invests in the National Reserve System through Caring for our Country by increasing the National Reserve System.

Funding is provided in two ways.

  1. Organisations can apply for funding to help them buy land for new conservation reserves. The Australian Government provides up to two-thirds of the purchase price for a property and the partner organisation contributes the rest. The partner (government, conservation organisation or community group) then owns the property and manages it for long term nature conservation.
  2. Organisations can apply for funding to work with landholders, helping them establish perpetual conservation covenants on parts of their private land. More information >>

Land purchase
There are specific guidelines for completing an application for funding to help them buy land for new conservation reserves. The guidelines are essential in helping you complete the application form correctly. It will tell you what information must be provided and how to fill in the application form on line. Please note, if you are applying for funding assistance for more than one property you must use a separate application form for each property.
If you are considering buying land for new conservation reserves, it is recommended that you speak with the state or territory National Reserve System contacts to discuss:
