CAPAD 2000
CAPAD (Collaborative Australian Protected Area Database) contains information on all protected areas in Australia, including their IUCN management categories.
The current version of CAPAD is CAPAD 2006. The data below has been superceded, but is still available for historic purposes.
Note: CAPAD99 was compiled using only CAPAD97 data for Tasmania. When September 2000 Tasmanian data became available the CAPAD99 dataset was renamed to CAPAD2000 to allow incorporation of the 2000 data. CAPAD2000 data validity lies between June 1998 and September 2000.
National Summary (2000)
The National Summary contains:
- Summary of Protected Areas in Australia by Type - (Number and Area[hectares])
- Summary of Protected Areas in Australia by IUCN Category
- Summary of Protected Areas in Australia by IUCN Category as a proportion of IBRA Version 4 regions
Commonwealth and State summaries (2000)
Commonwealth
The Commonwealth summary contains:
- Listing of all Protected Areas that are managed by the Commonwealth Government- includes information on Name, Type, IUCN Category, Area (hectares), Gazettal Date, Location (Latitude and Longitude)
- Protected Areas managed by the Commonwealth Government by Type - (Number and Area[hectares])
- Protected Areas managed by the Commonwealth Government by IUCN Category
State
Each State summary contains:
- Listing of all Protected Areas in the State - includes information on Name, Type, IUCN Category, Area (hectares), Gazettal Date, Location (Latitude and Longitude)
- Protected Areas in the State by Type - (Number and Area[hectares])
- Protected Areas in the State by IUCN Category
- Protected Areas in the State by Type as a proportion of IBRA region
- Protected Areas in the State by IUCN Category as a proportion of IBRA region
