About this permit
You will need to apply for a permit to conduct research in a Commonwealth park or reserve under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
If you intend to obtain biological resources from a Commonwealth area for the purpose of research and development on any genetic resources, or biochemical compounds, comprising or contained in the biological resources, you will also need to obtain a permit under Part 8A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000. Please note: Applicants should give as much notice as possible. It is recommended that at least six weeks notice is provided for minor projects.
A minimum of three months may be necessary for some projects, particularly those involving Aboriginal people or requiring access to restricted areas.
