About the Audit
The Christmas Island National Park Management Plan was passed through Parliament and came into force in 2002. It is a seven year plan, and work has commenced on preparation of a new 10 year management plan.
The Christmas Island National Park Advisory Committee (CINPAC) is tasked to assist the Director of National Parks in implementing the plan. CINPAC is made up of the Director of National Parks and representatives of the local community. The terms of reference for CINPAC are to:
- advise the Government Conservator on implementation of the management plan; and
- advise the Shire of Christmas Island and the Director of National Parks on matters relevant to the Christmas Island National Park.
The committee has not met for some time.
