Walks in the park
A number of walks allow you to explore the base of Uluru and Kata Tjuta National Park. Most of the walks are wheelchair accessible, and range from easy to moderate.
Minimising your environmental footprint
You are one of a large number of visitors the park receives every year. Each footprint in the sand may last many weeks and desert plants are sensitive to disturbance. Walking off track can also spread weed seeds and collapse underground burrows. You can help this fragile environment by staying on the designated walking areas.
Safe walking
Every year a number of visitors suffer from heat stroke and heat exhaustion. These conditions are easily preventable - just by being better prepared. Remember to:
- Wear a hat, strong shoes and sunscreen.
- Carry and drink at least 1 litre of water per hour.
- Walk in the cooler parts of the day.
- Stay on the track.
