Baseline analysis of mass balance rate of television and computer recycling in Australia
About the report
The baseline analysis of mass balance rate of e-waste recycling in Australia report (the Mass Balance report) provides an analysis of existing collection and recovery processes used in the recycling of end-of-life televisions and computers. The report is based on a survey of recyclers. One aim of the report was to identify how much material is currently recovered by Australian recyclers from recycling televisions and computers. This report was an input to deciding whether to include an enforceable material recovery target as part of the draft Product Stewardship (televisions and computers) regulations that will underpin a National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (the Scheme). This report was prepared by Equilibrium.
The study was commissioned by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities to inform the development of the Regulations for the Scheme. However, it should be noted that the views expressed in the report are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Australian Government or the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities or the Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and Urban Water.
