Marine life | Christmas Island National Park

Christmas Island is surrounded by a narrow tropical reef, which supports a rich array of marine life, including hundreds of species of tropical fish, dolphins, whalesharks, mantarays and many varieties of unspoiled coral. The Island is located from the edge of the Java Trench, the deepest point in the Indian Ocean, creating spectacular steep drop-offs just beyond the reef.

The Christmas Island marine life brochure presents some of the most common species of marine life which can be found in the ocean and reef surrounding Christmas Island.
