Persoonia pauciflora is listed as critically endangered under both the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995. This taxon is a highly restricted NSW endemic occurring in the North Rothbury area in the lower Hunter Valley. Much of the species' habitat has been cleared for rural-residential development and it is estimated less than 350 mature individuals remain, across a linear range of only 4.3 km.
The main immediate threats to the persistence of P. pauciflora are continued habitat loss and fragmentation due clearing for residential development; illegal clearing and picking; and habitat degradation resulting from grazing and slashing.
The overall objective of this recovery plan is to abate identified threats and maintain or enhance in situ populations to ensure the long term persistence of P. pauciflora in the wild.
