Fact sheet
In line with the new Canberra domestic kerbside recycling service, DEH's recycling contractor can now accept a greater range of materials into the co-mingled bins for recycling. All plastic codes 1-7 can now be recycled. The only exclusions are film (plastic wrap) and plastic bags (which should be returned to supermarkets for recycling). Agencies should check with their service providers about similar arrangements.
Materials that can now be placed in the co-mingled bins include-
All rigid plastic containers including:
- soft drink bottles;
- milk bottles;
- cordial bottles;
- yoghurt containers;
- margarine containers; and
- take-away containers etc.
