Grant Guidelines

The Australian Government has called for applications from Australian electricity distribution companies, on behalf of interested industry consortia, to deliver the Smart Grid, Smart City demonstration project. Applications close 28 January 2010.

The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts has developed grant guidelines and supporting material based on the recommendations of the pre-deployment report, to assist potential consortia in structuring their application to deliver the Smart Grid, Smart City demonstration project.

It is anticipated that the successful consortium will be announced in late April 2010. Pending contract negotiations, delivery of the project will commence in July 2010 and continue until June 2013.

Application Terms and Conditions were made available on 17 November 2009. A draft Funding Agreement is also available for download.

The Application Supporting Material and Frequently Asked Questions may be subject to further changes throughout the application period, in response to feedback.

Development of the Guidelines

Draft Grant Guidelines were released for public comment by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts on 30 September 2009. Comments provided during the consultation period were taken into consideration in finalising the Guidelines and the Application Supporting Material.

Presentations

Two presentations were created in September 2009 discussing the initial drafts of the Grant Guidelines and the Application Supporting Material. Final guidelines are now available, but these presentations can be downloaded for your reference.
