What the data mean

Commonwealth funding for art museums and libraries and archives has increased over the period 1999-00 to 2003-04, while funding for other museums has decreased slightly. State and Territory funding for all three categories reported has increased over this period.

Data Limitations

Data on local government funding for heritage collections is not available after 2000-01. Local government funding figures are not available for the period after 2000-01.

This indicator provides a measure of the extent of response to protecting and maintaining heritage values in a range of collections.
