What the data mean

Domestic transport shows a steady increase in carbon dioxide equivalent emissions over the reporting period, 1990 to 2003. Most of this is accounted for by road transport. Of road transport, passenger vehicles account for over 45 percent of emissions, with trucks and light commercials also accounting for a significant proportion.
