About the report
The revised Australia and New Zealand Water Quality Guidelines for Fresh and Marine Waters (WQGs) encourages the derivation of site-specific guideline trigger values (TVs) for toxicants (ANZECC & ARMCANZ 2000). Rather than supplying just a set of single numbers as guideline values, the WQGs provide a hierarchical decision framework from which default toxicant trigger values can be modified to suit local conditions. One option within the decision framework is to use local species toxicity data to derive a site-specific trigger value. This paper describes an example of this approach for Magela Creek.
