About the Document
Staff of the Environmental Research Institute of the Supervising Scientist have been conducting research on the impact of mining in Kakadu National Park for about 20 years.
This document summarises research done in the South Alligator River region on old mines and tailings left by past mining activities and whether they were found to be harmful to local Aboriginal people and the people who work and visit the area.
