Project Management: Queensland, Victorian, South Australian, Australian Capital Territory and Australian Governments
Project Details:
- The National Travel Behaviour Change Project involved Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory as well as the Australian Government, and aimed to reduce impacts of car use.
- The project utilised a variety of measures to facilitate a voluntary change in behaviour towards more sustainable modes of travel such as walking, cycling, public transport and ride-sharing.

GGAP Funding: Up to $6.4 million was approved under the GGAP.
Total Project Cost: Approximately $21.4 million.
Environmental achievements:
- Expected Greenhouse Gas Abatement:
Up to 1.23 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent over the period 2008-2012, - In addition to greenhouse gas abatement, surveys of participants indicated that other possible benefits may have included reduced traffic and congestion, improved safety, improved health through increased physical activity and greater sense of community.
Reports:
- Public dissemination report
- Review of Progress Achievements of the Greenhouse Gas Abatement Programme National Travel Behaviour Change Project
Note: Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) is the basis for comparing the warming effect of a greenhouse gas as compared to carbon dioxide and is calculated by multiplying the mass of a greenhouse gas by its global warming potential.
