About the agreement
The agreement will allow the Australian Government Minister for the Environment to rely on specified environmental impact assessment processes of the State of Tasmania in assessing actions under the EPBC Act.
Administrative Arrangements and Procedures made under clauses 11.2 and 19 of the Assessment Bilateral Agreement entered into by the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of Tasmania in accordance with section 45 of the EPBC Act
The Department and the Tasmanian Environment Protection Authority have agreed to administrative procedures to support the bilateral agreement. These procedures were signed on 18 July 2012.
These administrative procedures fulfill both governments' commitments in Clauses 11.2 and 19 of the bilateral agreement. Their implementation will ensure that the bilateral agreement is administered efficiently and cooperatively, in accordance with the separate legal requirements of each government.
