Ozone Depleting Substances and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases
The Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989 (the Act) and its Regulations help ensure Australia meets legal obligations under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Legislation, Ozone Depleting Substances & Synthetic Greenhouse Gases
The Act controls the manufacture, import and export of all ozone depleting substances (ODSs) and synthetic greenhouse gases (SGGs) while the Regulations control major end-uses.
The Omnibus Repeal Day (Autumn 2014) Bill 2014 will make amendments to the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989, the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas (Import Levy) Act 1995, and the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas (Manufacture Levy) Act 1995.
