These documents were commissioned by the 2006 Australian State of the Environment Committee to provide additional information. Independent contract authors prepared these documents and the opinions contained within them are those of the authors. The documents were used to inform and support the SoE 2006 report, Australia State of the Environment 2006 (SoE2006).
The Data Reporting System (DRS) was compiled by the former Department of the Environment and Heritage at the request of the 2006 Australian State of the Environment Committee. The DRS was used to inform and support the SoE 2006 report, Australia State of the Environment 2006 (SoE2006).
The DRS is a data and information management system. The DRS has been designed to provide public access to information about 174 critical issues, identified across the SoE reporting themes. These issues have been informed through data collected on 263 selected indicators. An indicator is an aspect of an issue that is measurable and that in some way represents a key element of the selected issue.
