About the project
The Blackall - Tambo Regional Council will undertake a network analysis in the towns of Blackall and Tambo and develop a water main replacement/upgrade strategy. The project also involves the removal of an ineffective pressure relief valve and the installation of a monitoring/metering system using Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA).
This project will:
- produce a potable water savings of approximately 601 million litres each year
- reduce water loss in the distribution system, and
- reduce the water pressure in the network and prolong the life of council assets.
The project commenced on 27 January 2011 and is scheduled for completion by 30 June 2012.
