Brewarrina Shire Council Water Conservation Action Plan
Brewarrina Shire Council
Funding: $150,000
About the project
The project is to ensure communities in the Brewarrina Shire have sustainable access to water for community use. The Council will develop a brief and engage a consultant to:
- investigate the recognised data gaps;
- identify and recognise the unidentified data gaps;
- develop strategies is consultation with the communities, and
- prepare an implementation plan.
Project benefits
This data gathering exercise will identify alternative means of reducing water demand that do not disadvantage the five communities that make up the Brewarrina shire.
Project completion
This project was completed in October 2011 and resulted in a comprehensive Strategic Business plan. The Plan was adopted by the Brewarrina Shire Council for use in future business, management and maintenance strategies when determining water saving initiatives for the region. An extra achievement as a consequence of this project is the education of Councillors about their water and sewerage assets, including operations and expenses.
