Improving the efficiency and quality of the Coonamble Water Supply

Coonamble Shire Council

Funding:$2,100,000

About the project

This project aims to improve the quality and efficient use of the Coonamble water supply, which is not currently filtered, by constructing a suitable water treatment plant to bring the water supply up to the current Australian Drinking Water Standards. As the water supply is not filtered, the reticulation pipelines are flushed regularly to keep it clean, wasting a large.

Project benefits

This project will bring the water supplied to Coonamble up to the accepted Australian standards and reduce water losses caused by flushing the distribution system. The water saved from this project along with the mains replace program (approximately 80ML per year) will remain in the aquifer or will be available to other communities in the region.
