About the project
The project is a community focused planning study to identify, model, prioritise and develop adaptation plans for the impacts of a future with less water. The project will examine the resilience of the community to successfully adapt to changes in water availability.
Project benefits
The project will be used to:
- identify and prioritise the socio economic impacts and to assist Dubbo City Council to examine plans to successfully adapt to changes in water availability;
- accurately assess stormwater harvest yields and the cost effectiveness of harvesting that water;
- examine programs used in other cities to inform, educate and change the attitudes of residents towards the adoption of household water saving initiatives;
- examine ways to attract new water based businesses to the city; and
- provide a snapshot of the relative wellbeing of Dubbo City community against socio economic indicators as a basis for comparing the impact of future change.
Project completion
This project was completed in November 2011 and provided an assessment of the impact of population growth and climate change on water usage as well as an assessment of the risks to Dubbo's ongoing water supply. This project produced the following reports for the Dubbo City Council in determining future water saving initiatives.
