Securing the water supply to Lake Cargelligo, Murrin Bridge, Tullibigeal and Kikiora townships
Lachlan Shire Council
Funding: $9,270,000
About the project
This project aims to reduce water losses involved in the supply of water to Lake Cargelligo, Tullibigeal, Kikoira and Murrin Bridge. This will be achieved through equipping and connecting three bores (located 28km from Lake Cargelligo) to the water filtration plant at Lake Cargelligo. The work involves the installation of tanks and pumps as well as laying approximately 32kms of pipeline.
Project benefits
The project will benefit the Murray Darling Basin Community by allowing up to 7ML of water (daily) to be used for other uses including environmental work, or use by other communities or other worthwhile projects. The water saving will be achieved through the replacement of river water that is delivered, via open earth channels and dams, with bore water that will be delivered via a pipeline (ensuring that all water harvested is delivered to the filtration plant).
