Securing Narrabri's town water supply
Project terminated at Council's request - 18 April 2011
Narrabri Shire Council
Funding: $40,000
About the project
Through this project Narrabri Council will:
- document existing infrastructure and practices at councils playing fields and saleyards and the existing Boggabri subsurface system;
- monitor water use at identified sites;
- investigate efficiency measures that can be delivered by using subsurface irrigation systems and moisture probes on playing fields; and
- investigate water recycling measures that can be incorporated into the sale yards operations.
Project benefits
This project will enable the Council to maintain its sports playing surfaces with more consistency during the summer months, help reduce the amount of potable water used to irrigate the grassed surfaces and accommodate a growing population.
